About
Born in Cornwall, now living in Edinburgh, Sam Lake has become one of the most exciting stand-ups in the UK (I mean, it’s me writing this, so if you disagree, I respect your opinion). Starting comedy on a whim to spite an ex-boyfriend, Sam is now an acclaimed comic, presenter & writer.
After Winning Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year & being nominated for the BBC New Comedy Award, Sam made his debut at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2022, with his show Cake, which had a west-end transfer to Soho Theatre and was recorded as a special at Monkey Barrel Comedy. His second hour, Aspiring DILF, was one of the best reviewed comedy shows of 2023, and went on to a nationwide tour in 2024. Esméralda, Sam’s third hour and most personal show, was nominated for the ISH Comedy Awards for Best Show. It was one of Rolling Stone’s Top 12 Stand-Out Shows of the Fringe, as well as picking up a slew of rave reviews.
Sam has starred in The Comedy Guide to Life - Dave, The Joy of Missing Out - All 4, Breaking The News - BBC Scotland, as well as having his writing featured on Mock The Week. He’s a regular entertainment correspondent on BBC Radio Scotland. He performs at the biggest comedy clubs in the UK, and recently supported Ed Gamble, Suzi Ruffel, Tom Lucy & Harriet Kemsley on their UK Tours.
Sam is also the host of the podcast I’ve Had A Rosé, Let’s Talk About Feelings
